About Share Our Strength
Share Our Strength is a nonprofit organization that believes all children and families deserve to live free from hunger and poverty. However, after nearly 40 years of leadership in the nonprofit sector, we recognize that solving hunger requires more than just food. As we strive to end hunger, we are equally dedicated to ensuring families have access to vital resources and to building a movement that supports families from the start. A key contributor to Share Our Strength's mission is the Mayors Alliance to End Childhood Hunger and the No Kid Hungry campaign.
The Mayors Alliance to End Childhood Hunger
The Mayors Alliance is a coalition of over 300 mayors from across the nation committed to feeding children in their communities. These mayors use their individual and collective influence to advocate for policies that enhance child nutrition programs at the local, state, and federal levels. Working alongside community leaders, they aim to refine existing programs by incorporating community feedback and implementing proven best practices. Share Our Strength also provides information, tools and resources to support mayors in their efforts to end childhood hunger.
Benefits Access
Our No Kid Hungry campaign, in partnership with the American Public Human Services Association, leads the Coordinating Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Nutrition Supports cohort. This initiative aims to synchronize SNAP with other federal, state, and local nutrition supports to address childhood hunger effectively. Furthermore, No Kid Hungry awards grants to schools and community organizations for purchasing equipment and covering staffing needs. Since March 2020, No Kid Hungry's school and community grantees have reported serving over two billion meals to children and families nationwide.
