About the Conference

The National Association of Counties (NACo) Annual Conference is the premier gathering of elected and appointed officials from the nation’s 3,069 counties, parishes and boroughs. Conference content includes discussion of federal policies impacting counties, workshops lifting up county best practices, engaging general sessions, mobile tours across our host county, and more. NACo members also have the opportunity to influence the association’s direction and future during the Annual Business Meeting on the final day of the conference.

Registration Policies

Members of the press are invited to request consideration for press credentials. To do so, please email nweissman@naco.org.

We welcome attendees to register guests who plan to attend a portion of the event. Guest registration includes entrance to:

  • Exhibit hall opening reception
  • All-conference closing reception 

Guest registration rates are:

  • $150 for Early Bird
  • $180 for Advance
  • $200 for Onsite

Learn More About Tampa Bay

Registrations cancelled by May 31, 2024 will be refunded less a $50 administration fee. Cancellation requests made between June 1 and June 28 will receive a 50 percent refund. Refunds will not be available after June 28, 2024, including for unused registrations or "no-shows." (This applies to all registration types including guest and spouse fees.)

All cancellations must be made in writing by emailing cancellations@naco.org

Payment is due at the time of registration. Exceptions can be made to allow for payment by check on a case by case basis. All fees must be paid in full prior to arrival in order to obtain your badge and registration materials at the conference. 

To transfer a registration, please contact nacomeetings@naco.org and provide the name and email of the person whose registration you are transferring and the name and email address of the person to whom the registration should be reassigned.

Conference Days

Thursday

July 11 (Pre-Conference)

Thursday’s pre-conference events include the CIO Forum and Reception.

Friday

July 12

The first full day of the conference includes an orientation for first-time attendees in the morning, policy steering committee meetings throughout the day, and a welcome reception in the exhibit hall in the evening. NACo affiliates, affinity groups and state associations will also host meetings and receptions in the evening.

Saturday

July 13

Day two of the conference features standing, ad hoc, task force and caucus meetings along with a series of best practice and policy-focused workshops. The opening general session takes place in the afternoon, followed by a forum with candidates for the office of NACo Second Vice President.

Sunday

July 14

Conference day three kicks off with two workshop blocks and the NACo Board of Directors meeting, followed by an all-attendee luncheon and Achievement Awards ceremony. In the afternoon, attendees may choose between three educational summits or mobile tours offered by our host county.

Monday

July 15

The last day of the conference opens with NACo’s Annual Business Meeting, where NACo members will vote on NACo policy positions, consider proposed bylaws changes and elect NACo leadership for 2024-2025. Regional caucus meetings follow the Annual Business Meeting, along with a final workshop block. The closing reception will take place in the evening at the Florida Aquarium.

Housing

NACo has contracted hotel blocks at several hotels surrounding the Tampa Convention Center. Upon registering, attendees will receive information in their confirmation email on how to book housing directly with the hotels at NACo’s contracted rates.

Voting Credentials

NACo members vote on proposed amendments to association bylaws, NACo's policy agenda and elect NACo officers for the coming year during the Annual Business Meeting held annually at NACo’s Annual Conference. Click here for more information.

First-Time Attendees

Will this be your first NACo Conference? Please see the tips below to help you prepare and make the most of your experience.

  1. First-Time Attendee Orientation
    1. Mark your calendar to attend one of our First-Time Attendee Orientations:
      1. In-person Friday, July 12, 8:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. EDT (invitation will be emailed shortly)
    2. This event is intended to provide you with an opportunity to answer your questions about the conference, hear from our NACo President, Membership Committee Chair and Executive Director and engage in roundtable discussions with seasoned NACo members.
  2. Plan your schedule ahead of time
    1. Review the conference schedule and identify committee meetings and educational sessions of interest. Committee meetings are open to all attendees, unless specifically noted.
    2. Attend your region’s caucus meeting on Monday, July 15 from 2:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. EDT. Check here to find your state’s region.
  3. Register for the “What to Know Before You Go” webinar July 2, 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. EDT
    1. A recording will be available on our website if you cannot attend the webinar.
  4. Download the NACo Conference App – STAY TUNED FOR MORE INFORMATION
    1. For your convenience, the conference app allows you to create your own schedule, access meeting content, view other attendees, send messages and more.
    2. The app will be available for download on apple and android devices prior to the conference.
    3. Printed schedules will also be available at the registration desk.
  5. Conference dress code
    1. The dress code for the conference is business; however, we recommend that you pack comfortable walking shoes and an extra layer for chilly conference rooms.
    2. For evening social events, the dress code is business casual.
  6. Check in with your state association for any events they may have planned.
