The County Veteranâs Internship Program Work experience Option provides paid work experience to veterans pursuing a career in County government. Most of the funding for the program is provided through a contract with San Diego Workforce Partnership, a nonprofit public benefit corporation that develops and implements solutions to regional workforce issues. To qualify for the program, the veterans must be discharged or released from active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States under honorable conditions and Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Dislocated Worker eligible through enrollment at one of the One-Stop Career Centers in San Diego County. In addition, veterans must pass all required background investigations and medical examinations prior to placement in the program. Veteran Interns work as temporary employees in various County Departments for up to a maximum of 1,040 hours or six months. The program affords veterans with work experience that enables them to effectively compete for regular County jobs or employment with other agencies.
