The San Bernardino County Assessor-Recorder-Clerk is successfully providing a comprehensive multi-year training program to help meet its rapidly growing need of qualified appraisers to appraise both residential and commercial properties. The Appraiser Series Training Program provides an in-depth curriculum on appraisal practices, assessment industry standards and appraisal theory. The program also provides an opportunity for existing staff to receive additional training on new assessment industry standards, allowing for a continuation of education as required by current state law. Since implementation, this improved training program has developed three new groups of appraisers. The Appraiser Series Training Program has helped bolster a team atmosphere, the sharing of experiences and technical expertise, and has strengthened efficiencies in time and costs for training.
