Wayne County has created a Restricted Work Department that will enable the County to return injured employees to work with genuinely beneficial assignments. The program is geared towards the use of employees with temporary or permanent work restrictions. The primary objective of the program is to return county employees to safe and productive employment as soon as it is medically possible for them to do so, following an injury or illness. It is further intended to provide additional staffing for County Departments that are overwhelmed with work due to reductions in personnel resulting from budget cuts.
