About the Program

Category: Personnel Management, Employment and Training (Best in Category)

Year: 2011

In a proactive effort to address one of the common challenges faced by local governments across the county, Camden County, Georgia opted to redesign one of the core benefits of employment, namely, its retirement plans. By taking a close look at the mechanics of the current program, the plan was built from the ground up with an eye for efficiency and effectiveness. Cost drivers were identified and negotiated with a deep understanding of the process. Finding technical experts to work as consultants rather than salesman was a crucial component of the program as well. They functioned to remove comprehension barriers and improved the decision making of the County executives who were making the final calls with regard to the specifics of the program. The benefit of the reworked plan is directed towards employees, while the employer can look forward to enjoying strong intangible benefits from a zero-cost initiative.
