If a public health emergency were to affect the nearly 1.3 million people who live, work, and play in Oakland County, Michigan, it is imperative that the local health department has a well-trained and diligent workforce ready to assist. The creation of the Annual Medical Countermeasure Distribution and Dispensing Interactive Training is a beneficial way to ensure that training is efficient, easy to utilize, accessible to employees from anywhere, and that information provided is current and relevant to the user. This program is an interactive web based training that is provided to all public health employees. It provides training on medical countermeasure distribution, dispensing, and other relevant background information including Strategic National Stockpile assets, transportation, and local health department specific procedures. Not only does this annual training provide important information needed during a public health response, but it can also be utilized as a thorough Just in Time Training at the time of an incident. Information can be adjusted and added based on the type of incident at hand so that the employees and volunteers can learn the most current information. When time is of the essence, and the community is depending on Public Health, it is pivotal to have a group of well-trained responders.
