MLS LEADS is a leadership development program designed to energize managers, strengthen their leadership skills, and encourage cross-departmental collaboration. The program seeks to develop managers’ skills such that they motivate employees to deliver exceptional services to Montgomery County residents. Eligibility includes Executive Branch MLS, Public Safety Managers and Question A appointees. The MLS Develops component targets all County employees who aspire to be leaders. MLS LEADS was launched in April 2018 and consists of five leadership development learning modules: • Learns Informational and Networking Events • Explores Book Club Meetings and County Facility Tours • Achieves Distinguished Speaker Series and Turn the Curve Forums • Develops Employee Leadership Development Conferences and Aspiring Leader Book Clubs • Serves Community Service Projects To date, over 3,629 County managers and staff have participated with a satisfaction rating of 92% or above. Additionally, 97% say they enhanced their collaboration and peer networking, and 30% say they increased their organizational productivity. As of result, the County saved over $50,000. Over 98% of MLS Develops participants indicated that they gained new knowledge and networking opportunities to help advance their careers and build leadership skills. Due to increased internal promotions, job retention, and decreased recruitment costs, the County saved over $100,000.
