Leon County, Florida’s Domestic Violence Program is an innovative and comprehensive program designed to curtail domestic violence, sexual violence, dating violence, and stalking in the workplace; to provide immediate assistance to employees impacted by domestic violence; and to promote awareness of support services available to employees. The program was developed in 2013 in collaboration with a broad variety of community partners to implement a “Domestic Violence, Sexual Violence and Stalking in the Workplace” policy adopted by the Board of County Commissioners. The program consists of training for all existing and new employees, educating employees about domestic violence issues, and raising awareness regarding community and organizational resources that are available to assist employees impacted by domestic violence. Leon County’s Domestic Violence Program, which vastly exceeds state statutory requirements for employers regarding workplace accommodations for employees impacted by domestic violence, truly exemplifies Leon County’s “People Focused, Performance Driven” culture. Leon County is committed to respecting, engaging, and empowering its employees, recognizing that a healthy and engaged workforce is essential for Leon County to realize our full organizational, political and fiscal capacity.
