About the Program

Category: Personnel Management, Employment and Training (Best in Category)

Year: 2018

In 2016, Wake County expanded its wellness program to include a holistic, whole life approach of well-being; adding the dimensions of emotional health, social health and financial health to the established physical health. The expanded program was rebranded as “Living Great@Wake”, with a new logo and the launch of a new interactive website. Leading employers, like Wake County, are transitioning from offering programs focused primarily on improving physical health. Wake recognized that, in addition to physical health, we must support our employees’ social, financial, and emotional well-being to truly make a difference in their total health. By offering a diverse suite of more than 200 programs ranging from disease management and acute care to financial seminars and stress relief workshops, Wake provides something for all employees regardless of where they fall on the continuum of health and well-being. The program has tangible results including 3,300 pounds lost in the last two years, 35% improvement in cholesterol levels, 32% of the population making medically measurable improvement, 95% participation in biometric screenings and a reduction in employee health risks, which contributed to Wake being named the Healthiest Employer in the Triangle by the Triangle Business Journal and the 14th Healthiest Employer in the Country by Springbuk, Inc.
