The San Bernardino Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) mission and purpose is to make a positive difference in the lives of children and families by delivering reliable child support services. It is with this understanding that DCSS believes that staffing is the key component to making our mission and purpose a reality. With the infusion of new ongoing funding, DCSS began the challenge of hiring a large number of staff members that included Child Support Specialists and Child Support Assistants. DCSS conducted a highly successful hiring event that required the collaboration of multiple departments within the County. The leadership team with the support of multiple county departments developed the 2019-20 Hiring Hall, with the intent of screening numerous job applicants in the most effective and efficient manner. This proactive approach to the hiring process accommodated 183 candidates and resulted in 90 job offers. As the 90 candidates were hired, the Department’s goal was to ensure that new staff had a positive onboarding experience and the tools they needed to be successful in their transition into Child Support.
