Cook County’s Healing Spaces aimed to create a brave space for people to process current events with their peers. The program included:• Opening and facilitating dialogue on how what’s happening “out there” connects to our individual and collective work to be more equitable human beings, and to advance equity across the County;• Call forth future leaders across sectors where the County is engaged, which is a leading indicator of racial equity;• Challenge our perspectival understanding of history and the occlusions in our social narratives, in order to better understand their far-reaching impacts on our personal and professional lives;• Build spaces to support emotional triggers that may surface in other County-wide initiatives, particularly further Racial Equity Trainings, which are set to begin late 2021.
