The County of Los Angeles (County) implemented the Executive Leadership Development Program (ELDP) on January 30, 2014 in support of succession planning for the County. ELDP is a customized training program designed to enhance the leadership competence of managers who aspire to executive leadership positions in the County. In developing ELDP, the Department of Human Resources (DHR) and the Chief Executive Office solicited input from executives and managers throughout the County to identify competencies that are needed for successful executive leadership. Ten of these competencies were identified as being essential for County leaders and were utilized as the framework for the development of ELDP. The County partnered with the University of Southern California, Sol Price School of Public Policy to develop and administer ELDP. As the oldest and most notable public affairs school on the west coast, the Sol Price School of Public Policy stands with distinction for its academic degrees, research, and executive education programs. The accomplished faculty brings a wealth of practical and executive development knowledge and experience. This innovative and exciting new program has received accolades from the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, executives from throughout the County, and the graduates of the program.
