The Department of Public Health (DPH) is dedicated to the recruitment and retention of a diverse and competent workforce through the implementation of various strategies outlined in the department’s Workforce Development Plan. The Stay Interview Program is one such strategy developed to increase employee retention through improving an employee’s workplace environment and culture. The Stay Interview Program provides supervisors with the tools, resources and training to conduct one-on-one conversations (Stay interviews) with employees in order to determine what they enjoy about their job and what changes they would like to see. Stay interviews help to develop confidence and trust between an employee and supervisor that increases morale and job satisfaction. The Stay Interview Program is comprised of three elements: •Stay Interview Guide - Handbook providing supervisors with guidance on why, how, and when to conduct Stay interviews.•Stay Plan - Form used by supervisors to list positive and negative factors identified by an employee during the Stay interview, including action items to be completed by the supervisor.•Stay Interview Training – Instructor-Led Training (ILT) provided to supervisors demonstrating how to conduct Stay interviews and complete Stay Plans.
