The County of San Bernardino Transitional Assistance Department (TAD) designed the District Training Mentor Program (DTMP) to mentor TAD staff interested in enhancing their training and staff skills. The DTMP assignment is open to various levels of Eligibility and Employment Services staff who hold regular status and whose work performance is meeting or exceeding standards.Due to County budgeting constraints, an alternative approach needed to be developed for staff training. DTMP created a system to address the training of staff without creating additional costs to the County. The DTMP program proves to be a highly effective training method particularly aimed at eligibility staff located in the TAD district offices. The first training provided in 2010 resulted in 2,006 staff being training in the district offices by the selected DTMP participants in the area of the Countyâs new imaging software. The DTMP participants have continued to train staff in the district offices with successful outcomes. Since inception, the program allowed DTMP participants to train 7,471 staff in 339 sessions, reducing or eliminating staff travel costs and out of office times.
