The Orange County Department of Child Support Services (CSS) created its Leadership Development Program (LDP) to provide professional development tools and resources to CSS staff for workforce development and succession planning. Under the umbrella of the program there are various models designed to support participants. The program provides a diverse range of competency development and broad access to valuable resources to help participants be successful in their role as a supervisor, manager and leader. Skill building strategies linked to professional development and career growth are offered through the program bringing immense value and benefit to the participants, the department and the community staff serves. By maximizing development opportunities, CSS retains existing talent and provides staff with the opportunity to acquire skills to advance and succeed within the department. This program is vital for maintaining a high level of employee engagement, workforce retention and for staff to achieve and exceed meeting department goals.
