The Center for Government Excellence (CGE), a division within the Human Resources Department, has maximized the use of its Learning Management System (LMS): a software tool essentially developed for delivering, tracking, and managing training. All County employees are required to complete training on a variety of new employee, safety, and human resource topics as required by law or mandated by the County Board of Supervisors. Without a centralized system of administration, accounting for employee training records of 18,000 employees is a large job. As a result, information related to compliance has been fragmented, and accurate reporting has been difficult. Implemented in 2007, the CGE LMS provides a centralized database, and robust county-wide training and learning administration system to ensure that employee learning records are comprehensive and easily accessible. CGE has taken the LMS one step further: leveraging this powerful tool in unique ways to help Riverside County departments save valuable time and money.
