National Association of Counties Announces Danny Melgoza as New Chief Strategy Officer

WASHINGTON – The National Association of Counties (NACo) is pleased to announce Danny Melgoza as the association’s new Chief Strategy Officer. He will assist the CEO/Executive Director with executive leadership and management, including oversight of the association’s strategic Objectives and Key Results (OKRs). In his capacity, he will also serve as Chief of Staff, fostering a team-oriented, inclusive, and performance-based environment. He will act as a lead communicator and liaison internally and externally, including with members, teammates, partners and stakeholders.

Prior to joining NACo, Danny served the past 14 years in public policy and management positions at San Diego County, Calif., including most recently as Chief of Staff to Supervisor Greg Cox. Previously, he worked at Seattle City Light, IBM, Xerox Corporation and ALDI Foods. He hails from Kansas City, Mo. He and his wife Monica recently welcomed their first-born child.

Building on his recent tenure with the County of San Diego, leading the office of Supervisor Greg Cox, Danny will bring valuable county experience to the national level.”

Danny starts with NACo on January 5, 2021.
