Since 2005, the El Paso County Information Technology Department has participated in a focused program on providing training and employment for selected underprivileged, displaced, and disabled members of the workforce in El Paso County. This training has been done mainly at IT’s Records Center. The training has been in cooperation with the Pikes Peak Workforce Center (PPWFC), which promotes employment by connecting businesses with job seekers. IT has provided training and employment through four programs: the Work Experience Program that focuses on adults; Colorado Youth WINS; the Youth Zone; and the Business and Education Talent Readiness Project. These programs have given selected county residents the confidence to learn, become involved with the world of work, have a better perspective on life, pay taxes, and contribute to the well-being of not only themselves, but the community.
