The Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) Traffic Management Center (TMC) provides real-time traffic management services through the operation of the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and supports the MCDOT Regional Emergency Action Coordination Team (REACT) during incident management for approximately 2,500 miles of roadway and 160 signalized intersections. During the support of these activities, the TMC personnel are required to document what actions are taken to monitor travel times and incidents that affect the traveling public on MCDOT roadways. On November 4, 2013, the Traffic Management Center launched the Performance Activity Log (TMC PAL) System. The TMC PAL System is a user-friendly, web-based application that provides a convenient and consistent method to enter, track, and report on the TMC operator activities. Moreover, this innovative application is the key tool used by system operation managers in retrieving performance and operational measurements as well as relevant data for lessons learned studies.
