1. Abstract of the ProgramThe Work Distribution Center (WDC) was established by the Right of Way Aesthetic and Assets Management (RAAM) Division in 2009 with the goal of centralizing all of the daily communications and correspondence between the RAAM office and the vendors which provide contracted landscape maintenance services to Miami Dade County. The objective was to reduce direct communication between the Landscape Maintenance Inspectors and the landscape contractors, and also reduce the amount of time inspectors spent in the office so they could concentrate their efforts in performing and completing the necessary field landscape inspections more efficiently and provide for greater accountability and transparency. The WDC communicates on a daily basis with the vendors to ensure work completion and prints all contractor completed work reports for the inspectors to perform their daily inspections. Since the establishment of the WDC, assigned RAAM administrative staff keeps track of all contracted related records and distributes inspection schedules and daily work assignments in an equitable manner amongst the inspectors to ensure proper coverage of all of the sites. Currently, the landscape inspectors operate on a daily rotation to ensure maximum coverage and adherence to the technical specifications of the landscape maintenance contracts. Implementing the work order center has streamlined operations and enhanced the overall quality of work product provided to the Citizens of Miami Dade County.
