The Miami-Dade County (County) Internal Services Department (ISD) is responsible for providing a wide range of internal support services for the ongoing operation of county government to include the management and disposition of surplus real property. The online auction of surplus County-owned real property is a user friendly, web-based process that provides functionality to the County and its customers. The use of an online auction for the sale of surplus real property is an innovative approach, which has created a convenient and effective process for interested customers to do business with the County. Using this platform, customers can easily search, access, and bid on available surplus County land. The online auction brings simplicity, efficiency, and automation to a once cumbersome and manual process that involved multiple County departments. Using this model, the County simply uploads property and pricing details to an auction site where a wide range of potential customers can browse available properties and place bids from the comfort of their own computer. This automated process has enhanced the County’s ability to maximize profits from sales, reduced expenses associated with maintaining these properties, and increased revenues by placing sold properties back on the annual tax roll more efficiently.
