About the Program

Category: County Administration and Management (Best in Category)

Year: 2014

Upon Performance Management and the Department of Information Technology’s analysis and audit of departmental operations, an opportunity to strengthen the County’s ability to provide consistent information for individual constituents and builders became readily apparent. Early analysis revealed that engineers were working with over twenty years of paper maps for building schematics and planning. By bringing technology resources to the division of Wastewater Management within the Department of Health, twenty years of paper maps have been scanned into the system and using GIS data, the functionality of these maps for information related to sewers, plumes and other factors that impact economic development has allowed for real time data and information to quicken the process of getting a permit and building.
