Wayne County’s move to the historic Guardian Building was more than a consolidation of County services. The move relocates 450 employees in eight departments from four different locations into one central location. Executed over two weekend days, the entire physical move was executed with no interruption in services or work days. With the move, the County seized the opportunity to upgrade technology and HVAC systems, implement environmentally friendly initiatives, increase workplace organization and efficiency, and improve employee morale. The move resulted in an annual average cost savings of $400,000.
