The DuPage County Grants Portal Online Resource was launched in August 2009 as a comprehensive guide designed to assist county staff and elected officials in the pursuit of comprehensive grants. Housed on the county’s intranet, the Grants Portal was developed for ease of navigation and benefit by all types of users, whether new or experienced to grants research and development. Elements of the Grants Portal include local elements, such as the latest county-wide grants news, finance committee presentations on grants and current grant activity for the county. It also provides county officials with general grant information, including summaries and links to upcoming grant opportunities, grant writing and acquisition step-by-step tutorials, templates and samples of application components, frequently asked questions and tips on grant writing. The Grants Portal plays an equally important role in accessing numerous federal and state grants by providing officials with proposal checklists, an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act guidance section, common sources and web sites for locating grant opportunities. Created as the perfect resource for all things grants related, the Grants Portal Online Resource notably enhances and complements the services provided by the county’s Grants Coordinator. In doing so, it helps further the county’s efforts in growing less reliant on income from its tax payers and instead increases pursuit of state, private and federal grant opportunities for the county’s priority projects.
