The Miami-Dade County (County) Internal Services Department (ISD) is responsible for the maintenance and tracking of over 10,500 motorized and non-motorized vehicular assets. ISD is responsible for monitoring and issuing fuel to more than 6,000 vehicles as well as several municipal jurisdictions within Miami-Dade County. The Fleet Management and Maintenance Tracking Application (Application) provided functionality by offering maintenance tracking and planning tools through a web-based platform. Through the development and implementation of the Application, the County was able to offer new services to customers such as incident reporting and automatic service notifications. Using the Applications, supervisors could monitor the productivity of employees and track expenses and warranty expirations in real-time through various query-based reporting tools. The application addressed procedural inefficiencies by eliminating a cumbersome, paper-based, manual process and promoted accountability and transparency by allowing County staff and customers the ability to track expenses, vehicle repairs, and maintenance in real-time.
