In order to increase productivity and efficiency, Miami-Dade County initiated a management system to track and document processes of the corrections department. The Facilligence Service Ticket program has enabled the Corrections and Rehabilitation Department to implement a tracking/processing system for daily maintenance work order requests. This program, a Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS), provides fully accessible formats by department employees which allows for submission of maintenance work requests, tracking of work requests, management approval of work requests, assignment to a particular trade and tracking to completion. The old program was time consuming and required requests to be hand or type written, then faxed over to a maintenance office and then delivered over to the main office where they would be written in as service tickets after a few days. The new service tickets were then printed and picked up a day or so later and were given to the tradesmen to go do the work, most likely the next day. This led to a 4 to 7 day time frame to get a service request into the hands of tradesmen to do the work. The new system cut this down to one day or less and has eliminated the need for the hard copy service ticket, by automating it and placing it onto a web based server accessible by all staff.
