Year: 2019

The Emerging Leaders Academy (ELA) is intended for County of San Diego employees who aspire to become leaders in the County, which can mean everything from leading projects or committees to promoting to supervisory positions. Employees can self-nominate and register for the program with supervisory approval. Millennial employees are promoting to leadership positions a lot sooner and faster than previous generations, sometimes before they develop the essential skills they need to be successful in these new roles. ELA offers a collection of classes designed to address these skills gaps. We have included classes that will help employees improve their organizational acumen, develop their critical and strategic thinking skills, as well as their problem-solving and decision-making skills, how to give and receive feedback, and how they articulate their job responsibilities, goals and professional strengths. Upon completion of this academy, participants are better prepared for new roles and leadership opportunities that come their way.
