About the Program

Category: County Administration and Management (Best in Category)

Year: 2021

On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a global pandemic. As COVID-19 cases were detected in Miami-Dade County (“County”), the Mayor declared a State of Local Emergency on March 12, 2020. Following this order, the County allowed its employees to work remotely in order to protect their health and safety. The County’s Internal Services Department (ISD) Facilities and Infrastructure Management Division (FIMD) processes approximately 17,300 invoices yearly. During the pandemic, FIMD had to find innovative ways to run day-to-day operations efficiently and without interruption, including promptly processing payments to all vendors. While adhering to social distancing guidelines and adjusting to a remote work program, the processing of paper/hard copy invoices caused a delay and was no longer a productive method and as such, an electronic invoicing process was developed and implemented. This new program was launched in April 2020.
