The Chester County Clerk of Courts Office (CoC) is pleased to announce the launch of Document Management Innovation (DMI), a document imaging system. DMI converts paper documents into electronic images through digital scanning. The new digital imaging system will greatly improve the court’s operations by capturing, storing, retrieving, and sharing records in an electronic environment that interacts with the Court of Common Pleas Case Management System (CPCMS). The project involved a collaboration of the County’s Clerk of Courts Office and Department of Computing and Information Services (DCIS). The collaborative effort yielded a solution that allowed for electronic redaction of personal information, time/date stamping of scanned documents, and electronic drag and drop CoC seal certification. These three features are mandated by law. The project exceeded the original scope with a read only WebNow interface to Judges, Judges Secretaries, Law Clerks, District Attorney’s, Public Defender’s, Court Administration, Adult Probation Officers, the Sheriff, and Prison Offices. This function was recognized by these departments as efficient to their work process. DMI officially went live February 16, 2016. The launch was seamless and significantly under the original estimated cost.
