About the Program

Category: Criminal Justice and Public Safety (Best in Category)

Year: 2017

On July 1, 2014, the San Diego County Probation Department and the Escondido Police Department (EPD) embarked on a proactive, collaborative effort to integrate and therefore enhance service delivery to the citizens of the City of Escondido and County of San Diego. The integrated service delivery model consisted of co-locating a Probation supervision unit, from the Post Release Offender (PRO) Division, within the City of Escondido’s Police Department. Probation officers operate full-time out of the Escondido Police Department’s headquarters, enhancing efficiencies in communication, intelligence gathering and sharing, and collaboration amongst both agencies. Further, barriers to accessing client services were reduced; a benefit for probationers living in the Escondido area.
