Miami Dade County Corrections and Rehabilitation Department (MDCR) is one of the largest jail systems in the U.S, given MDCR size and inmate population that averages around 5,000 to 7,000 inmates across 6 county facilities. MDCR address’s the many needs of both law enforcements agencies and the county’s public citizens by establishing and utilizing the very forefront of state of the art video surveillance technology. A modern video surveillance and recording system that included over 1,000 cameras and peripherals devices were retrofitted throughout all of the county Correctional Facilities. By adapting new technologies to fit specific requirements that relate to the safety of employees, citizens and inmates, the Miami Dade County Corrections and Rehabilitations Department has been able maintain an effective and cost efficient work environment by reducing the number of incidents related to inmate assaults, response to resistance events, the mitigation of legal matters and litigation actions.
