About the Program

Category: County Administration and Management (Best in Category)

Year: 2014

On March 1, 2013 the Suffolk County Department of Labor, Licensing, & Consumer Affairs (SCDOLLCA) initiated a new program to coordinate with the Suffolk County Office of Economic Development and the Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency (SC IDA) to bring our services to the businesses of Suffolk County. Our shared mission is to assist and promote the development, growth and retention of a broad mix of industry clusters that facilitate private capital investment and workforce development. Through the leadership of County Executive Steve Bellone, these three departments meet on a regular basis and have discussions that encompass the broad economic development projects that are underway here in the County, the incentives available to growing businesses, and the workforce development factor that brings qualified and trained workers to these companies. This initiative has broken down silos in government services and continues to bring measurable results that have a positive economic impact for Suffolk County Businesses as well as job seekers.
