High euthanasia rates, increasing criticism from animal rescue groups and low staff morale plagued the Gwinnett County (GA) animal shelter just a few years ago. Then a dramatic turnaround that started in the spring of 2012 led to series of outstanding successes. This year, the shelter is one of 50 nationwide selected by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to compete in a national contest.
