This program, a collaboration between NACo and Microsoft, provides county employees with access to a curated selection of digital and AI learning resources. The Microsoft Learning Catalog boasts over 4,000 courses, and our team has carefully selected relevant offerings for you.
Explore courses grouped into three categories: General Knowledge, IT Skills and Business Analytics. New courses will be added to the learning paths each week, allowing you to customize your learning journey based on your interests and professional goals.
Objectives for 2025:
- Empower local government employees with the knowledge and skills to implement responsible AI and GenAI in their lives (both in the workplace, as well as in their personal life)
- Identify and provide targeted training courses for individuals to improve their cybersecurity skills (as this is an important component of responsible AI)

Generative AI for Trainers
For those county staff who will be helping train others on how to use generative AI. These sessions contain a foundational knowledge about the principles of artificial intelligence (AI). It includes a comprehensive exploration into AI principles, an introductory module on leveraging the potential of AI for trainers, a practical exploration of AI applications, and activities for incorporating AI into teaching and learning.
Copilot
Familiarize themselves with Copilot (2 ½ hours total but spread over five manageable modules that are no more than 28 minutes in total and include a quick assessment at the end) OR Explore the Possibilities with Microsoft Copilot (33 minutes and covers only Copilot). These modules explore Microsoft 365 Copilot, and offer insights into its functionality and Microsoft's dedication to implementing AI responsibly and ethically
IT Skills
Security and Copilot
Overview of (24 minutes with a quick assessment at the end). Get acquainted with Microsoft Security Copilot. You are introduced to some basic terminology, how Microsoft Security Copilot processes prompts.
Core Features of Security and Copilot
This is a deeper dive (62 minutes with a quick assessment at the end) into the core features
Experiences with Security Copilot
(53 minutes with a quick assessment at the end). Learn how Copilot is embedded in Microsoft's security solutions
Business Analytics
Power Pages
This is a module that provides an overview of Power Pages (approximate length 40 minutes and includes a quick assessment at the end). Power Pages is a platform for creating, hosting, and administering modern external-facing websites using shared business data stored in Microsoft Dataverse
