Lori Hudson Letzring
Board Member

Community Relations Manager
Hillsborough County, Fla.

Number of years involved in NACo: 13

Years in public service: 24

Occupation: Communications, public relations and media relations.

Education: B.A. in journalism/ broadcast news, University of Memphis.

The hardest thing I’ve ever done is: Go on a medical mission trip to Kaugi Village, Meru, Kenya this past February. The needs are overwhelming, yet the people are so kind and grateful for any assistance.

Three people (living or dead) I’d invite to dinner are: Edgar Allen Poe, Helen Keller and Captain Edward Smith (Titanic).

You’d be surprised to learn that I: Sang the national anthem at a Tampa Bay Rays baseball game.

The most adventurous thing I’ve ever done is: A live shot as a reporter inside of the global cage where the motorcyclists go around and around. I did the shot WHILE the motorcyclists were going around and around me!

I’m most proud of: My four children — Jacob, Nathan, Hannah and Joey.

Every morning I read: The Bible, especially Proverbs.

My favorite meal is: Anything Italian.

My motto is: "Blessed are those who are flexible, for they will never be bent out of shape."

My pet peeve is: People who are quick to complain, but slow to help make things better.

The last book I read was: Insight: Why We’re Not as Self-Aware as We Think, and How Seeing Ourselves Clearly Helps Us Succeed at Work and in Life by Tasha Eurich.

My favorite movie is: The Wizard of Oz.

My favorite U.S. president is: Theodore Roosevelt.

My county is a NACo member because: Counties are the frontline service providers to citizens and NACo supports and advocates for our needs so we can continue to effectively serve citizens at home.
