Number of years involved in NACo: 13

Years in public service: 30

Occupation: County commissioner

Education: BA, JD, University of Dayton

The hardest thing I’ve ever done was: Complete law school.

Three people (living or dead) I’d invite to dinner: The 14th Dalai Lama, Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mother Teresa.

You’d be surprised to learn that I: Raced cars.

The most adventurous thing I’ve ever done is: Rappel down the 27-story KeyBank Tower in Dayton, Ohio.

My favorite way to relax is to: Spend time at any beach or time on the water with my WaveRunners, friends and family.

I’m most proud of: My sons.

Every morning I read: Several newspapers.

My favorite meal is: Filet and Ohio walleye at my favorite restaurant.

My motto is: “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams,” a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt.

The last book I read was: A Mindful Nation: How a Simple Practice Can Help Us Reduce Stress, Improve Performance, and Recapture the American Spirit by Congressman Tim Ryan.

My favorite music is: EDM.

My favorite movie is: The Wizard of Oz.

My favorite U.S. president is: Barack Obama.

My county is a NACo member because: Montgomery County, like all counties across the country, must have a strong national voice that represents us and the issues that we face in local government. NACo is that voice. The professionalism that the staff provides across a wide range of issues allows us to focus on our local concerns. NACo provides excellent services to its members and works so well with the state lobbying groups like ours here in Ohio, the County Commissioners Association of Ohio.
