NACo Officers, County Officials
  • NACo President Bryan Desloge addressed members of the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) at their Annual Conference in Guilford County Aug. 11–14. Desloge next traveled to the Association of County Commissioners of Alabama Annual Meeting in Baldwin County (Orange Beach) held Aug. 16–18.
  • NACo First Vice President Roy Charles Brooks addressed the North Carolina Association of Black County Officials at their meeting held in conjunction with NCACC’s event.

NACo Staff

  • Maeghan Gilmore, program director, represented NACo at the American Correctional Association meeting in Boston Aug. 7.
  • Jacob Terrell, associate legislative director, and Eryn Hurley and Austin Igleheart, legislative assistants, represented NACo at the 2016 Six-County Association of Governments Congressional Briefing in Richfield, Utah from Aug. 15 – 18.
  • Chris Marklund, associate legislative director, represented NACo at the Alaska Municipal League Conference in Wasilla, Alaska, held Aug.16 –19.

Congress introduces Second Chance Act reauthorization

On April 16, the Second Chance Reauthorization Act of 2024 (H.R. 8028) was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives with robust bipartisan support. NACo supports this legislation, which would reauthorize funding for Second Chance Act (P.L. 110-199) programs for five years.
