Year: 2021
COVID-19 responses were wide and swift in Los Angeles County. Health frontline employees were in most need of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) resources on the onset of the pandemic. Los Angeles County Workforce Development, Aging and Community Services (WDACS) was able to respond with youth workforce participants to assist in assembling face shields to deliver to health facilities throughout the County. At the same time, as work-based learning opportunities halted due to the pandemic, WDACS was able to provide a much-needed worksite for the subsidized work experience component of its Youth@Work program. The program provided the youth workers with information on manufacturing careers and opportunities. This partnership began in August 2020.
