The 2008 Youth Survey Key Issue Fact Sheets provide residents, county agencies, schools, community and faith-based organizations in Fairfax County with topic specific information based on the results of the 2008 Youth Survey. The Youth Survey is a comprehensive assessment tool that has over 20,000 students answering questions about positive school activities, social behaviors and physical wellbeing. Included on every fact sheet is a snapshot of the relevant data from the survey provided in easy-to-read graphic format, signs of risk behaviors, advice on actions that could help, suggested resources to contact and helpful websites to visit. New in 2009, all Key Issue Fact Sheets are available on the Fairfax County website in an easy to print PDF format. The Key issue Fact Sheets were conceived and created in response to the growing amount of data available from the Youth Survey and the desire to disseminate this information to the community in a way that would be informative, useful and not overwhelming. In a time of tight budget constraints and increased environment awareness, the Key Issue Fact Sheets capitalize on the wide-spread availability of technology in our community to provide ready access to the fact sheets on an as-needed basis, reducing the fiscal and environmental costs of printing, distributing and maintaining inventory. Availability on the web improves service to the community by broadening the scope of residents with access and making the fact sheets available on demand.
