The County of San Diego is committed to the health and safety of its employees. The Department of Human Resources’ Work Safe Stay Healthy (WSSH) program has been working to reduce injuries and improve safety of County employees for 13 years. In 2014 we assessed and recreated the WSSH program to offer customized safety training and messaging aimed at meeting the health and safety needs of each employee. Data analysis and best practices determined the need for specialized safety trainings based on job classification. As part of the new WSSH Training Tracks, all jobs within the County of San Diego have been categorized into one of six training tracks. These tracks offer a tailored safety program aimed to address each worker’s individual risks and educational needs. Each training track’s design is based on sound evaluation of job duties, health risks, near misses, and injury trends.
