The County of Alameda Human Resources Benefits Division, concerned about the impact of chronic conditions on its workforce and wanting to support employee health and well-being, undertook a wellness partnership with its largest health plan, Kaiser Permanente. The County and Kaiser Permanente partnered on a program that educates and rewards employees for being current on biometrics and for taking the health plan’s online Total Health Assessment. The program uses a Kaiser Permanente web platform to track completion and participants who meet the requirements receive a $125 reward. The County also offers onsite biometric screenings and ongoing employee education to support the program. The program resulted in very significant increases in biometric currency, online health assessment completion and utilization of online wellness classes built into the health plan coverage.
