About the Program

Category: Information Technology (Best in Category)

Year: 2021

The Rapid Response program provide services to employees of businesses who are closing or experiencing major layoff. One of the most important aspect of the program is the onsite information session coordinated by the Rapid Response coordinator, which brings together representatives of different providers of services that those who are recently dislocated from employment may need such as Unemployment Insurance, continued health coverage, further training and reskilling, job search and more. With the onset of the COVID 19 pandemic these in person on site tailored sessions became impossible overnight, coupled with an unprecedented surge in business closures, due to government regulation. The LA County Rapid Response program responded to the challenge on many different fronts, from automating the case assignment in July 2020 and the reporting process with our providers, soft launched in May 2020 and fully implemented in June 2020, to offering all the RR services to businesses remotely in March 2020 and conducting standing weekly virtual information sessions, which commenced in June 2020,) for the laid off workers in need of the information.
