The County of Orange Vegetation Hazard Reduction Application was created in order to greatly increase the efficiency of processing data while working in the field. Users are able to enter the data from the field and the data is immediately viewable to supervisors and others involved in the process. This application gives the field inspector the ability to easily view and monitor program expenditures to stay within costs. The Orange County Board of Supervisors authorizes the OC Public Works Department to send written notices in March of each year to all affected owners of property in the unincorporated area instructing them to remove weeds and combustible vegetation identified as a public nuisance. Owners are advised that if work is not accomplished by a specified date, the County or contracted crews will abate these properties and all costs will be added to the property owner's tax bill. A private contractor clears parcels as necessary under the direction of a County inspector resulting in vegetation removal charges.
