Year: 2018

On most days, air quality in Maricopa County is well within the national standards established to protect public health; however, there are still days when air quality fails to meet those standards and the consequences are significant. When Maricopa County fails to meet the national air quality standards, human health is adversely impacted and visibility is diminished. The county’s economy can also face the effects of federal sanctions and potential impact on economic growth. Mission Statement The mission of the Air Quality Department is to improve the air of Maricopa County so customers, residents and visitors can live, work and play in a healthy environment. We achieve our mission by implementing programs that reduce the level of emissions of pollutants into the air. One of the most vital and impactful programs impacting the county’s air quality is the Travel Reduction Community Outreach Services Program. The purpose of the Travel Reduction Community Outreach Services Program is to provide information and technical assistance to business owners related to Maricopa County Travel Reduction Program (TRP). The program offers courtesy site visits, event outreach, state statute and county ordinance interpretation assistance and education and travel reduction plan development assistance.
