Category: Arts, Culture and Historic Preservation (Best in Category)

Year: 2020

In the summer of 2017, Art Services created and facilitated an art feedback program through a series of workshops at the Main Library titled Teen Curatorial, an initiative of the Miami-Dade Public Library System’s Art Services and Exhibitions Division. This program was designed to help young artists gather information about their artwork, while also introducing them to the library’s Permanent Art Collection. Used with dance, theater, performance art, text, music, film/video and multidisciplinary work, Teen Curatorial proved to be flexible and adaptable to a variety of disciplines and formats. During the program, young artists explored their artistic process by presenting work in progress and interchanging feedback from their peers in a supportive and constructive environment. Teen Curatorial workshops afforded young artists a safe setting to receive honest feedback about their art, and culminated in a showcase exhibition and presentation.
