Year: 2017

Montgomery County, Maryland recognizes the importance of local government leading by example in the community. With more than 400 facilities, 3,000 vehicles, and nearly 10,000 employees, Montgomery County has incredible opportunities to innovate and advocate for energy and water conservation. Actions the County takes to reduce the environmental impact of its own operations have the potential to inspire and encourage similar projects by businesses, agencies, and individuals in the community. Montgomery County developed an innovative in person, web and social media strategy to communicate efforts to reduce the environmental impacts of County operations to keep policy makers, employees, residents and businesses abreast of County efforts. This approach leverages a variety of media to make complex and difficult concepts accessible, interesting, and relevant.
