The Administrative Analyst classification series includes five levels of progressive responsibility duties which are used by County departments to perform a variety of critical job responsibilities, including budget monitoring, fiscal analyses, contract administration, facility oversight, etc. The Administrative Analyst I (AAI) is the entry level professional class of the series, serving as a common way to enter the County of San Diego workforce. The County currently has 500 budgeted positions in the Analyst series, including 25 at the Administrative Analyst I level. For more than 30 years, the County’s Department of Human Resources (DHR) has conducted an application evaluation process that includes: a screening for minimum qualifications; and a 100-question multiple choice written examination measuring factors that are linked to performing successfully on the job. DHR conducts this county-wide recruitment on an annual basis, which yields hundreds of applicants for each recruitment. In an effort to improve efficiencies, create a better customer experience and reduce staff workload, the County undertook an improvement initiative to streamline the recruitment process.
