Year: 2018

Miami-Dade County’s Information Technology Department (ITD) serves as a partner in innovation for its customers developing solutions that move the envelope in the digital transformation of government in Miami-Dade. The Department of Solid Waste Department (DSWM) generates invoices for services provided to the citizens and businesses of Miami-Dade County (MDC) through a system known as the Waste Collection System (WCS). The invoices are for services rendered in reference to annual fees for the first year of service, associated fees for bulky trash pickups beyond the annual limit, and fees for leasing additional waste carts. The citizens and business owners (the customers) are able to pay for their invoices either by mailing in the payment or “in person” by visiting DSWM. The WCS generates billing invoices during account creation, new service to an account, and on the 1st of each month. After the manual processing of payments, transaction data is then entered manually into the WCS. With accounts expected to surpass 340,000 this year, and in order to facilitate the payment process, a new Solid Waste Payment System was requested, to allow our Miami-Dade County citizens and business owners to pay for their invoices via the Internet, utilizing a credit card.
