The Tax Trust Neighborhood Revitalization Project is a collaboration of four independent taxing entities working together to transform five designated neighborhoods through the creation of affordable, new housing. The County of Smith, City of Tyler, Tyler Independent School District and Tyler Junior College jointly agreed to make tax foreclosed vacant and abandoned properties to be used in an urban revitalization project. The cooperation has achieved new homes in five designated low and moderate income neighborhoods. The Tax Trust Neighborhood Revitalization Project has made it possible for local families to become first time home owners, improved the conditions of entire neighborhoods and added long term value to the tax rolls of Smith County.
